An introduction to Dementia Awareness the content aims to improve the skills of the learner in communicating with people who have dementia. And Legislation around the mental capacity act and DOLS deprivation of liberty and safeguarding:
Learning outcomes
AM The session encourages learners to consider different aspects of the needs of the person with dementia and their family group. Learners will explore the different types of dementia, consider person centred care and look at ways to manage symptoms.
PM This session is suitable for individuals or staff teams who want to gain awareness of best practice in embedding the principles of the Mental Capacity and Deprivation of Liberties legislation into their everyday practice. The course content provides the development of the MCA and DOLS and looks at how individuals can ensure they comply with the this in their job role. Learners will explore and consider situations looking at the best interests for individuals at various stages of their vulnerability.
